This selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in Victoria, BC. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis.

Occupational Certification
• A Solar Photovoltaic Certificate or equivalent
Experience
• Experience working on low voltage solar systems.
• Experience working at heights
• Experience in the refurbishment and construction and installation of fixed aids
• Experience in Life Cycle Management of assets related to the position.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge
• Knowledge of corrective/preventative maintenance of fixed and floating aids to navigation.
• Knowledge of programming and installing navigation systems i.e. All-Around Lights, Sector lights, Range Lights, and Racons.
• Knowledge of preparing steel/plastic buoys and mooring assemblies for fleet deployment.
• Knowledge of AIS and Virtual Aids for Navigation.
• Knowledge of Canadian Aids to Navigation System
Abilities and Skills
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Reliability Status security clearance
• Valid Health Canada Medical
• Willing and able to travel for up to 3 week periods of time to remote sites via trucks, boats, and aircraft.
• Willing and able to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work outdoors in extremes of environmental conditions on land and at sea.
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to climb towers and work at heights in excess of 2.4m
