Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) is looking for an Assistant Deputy Minister to lead our Saskatchewan Region.

Reporting directly to the President, the Assistant Deputy Minister, Saskatchewan Region, is an integral part of PrairiesCan’s Executive Committee and senior leadership team. You will be accountable for delivering regional economic development programs in Saskatchewan and for leadership and advocacy within the Region. You will advance the Prairies’ interests in national decision-making and program policy to drive regional economic transformation.

We will fill one permanent full-time vacancy. This process may be used for various tenures including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, and acting appointments. Education:
• Candidates with the requisite experience will meet the education requirement of the position (i.e., an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).
Experience:
• Significant experience in providing strategic leadership and direction in the development or implementation of complex policy initiatives, programs, and strategies.
• Experience leading an organization (public or private) focused on economic development.
• Significant leadership experience in managing complex financial and human resources matters.
• Significant experience providing strategic advice, recommendations, and briefings to senior executives on high-profile and complex issues.
• Significant experience collaborating and maintaining partnerships with internal and external
stakeholders.
*NOTE: Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full time performance of these duties for a minimum of the past 5 years. Complex issues are defined as issues with the following characteristics: multidimensional; sensitive; confidential; affecting many partners/stakeholders; precedent-setting and/or having a major impact on the public service/private sector; and/or having the potential for significant media coverage.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Formal education in a field related to the duties.
• Large network of business leadership contacts in Saskatchewan.
• Skilled and interested in evidence-based decision making.
• Experience working with Senior Leaders in the Government of Saskatchewan.
• Experience in designing, leading and evaluating programs with a focus on economic development or public policy.
• Experience interacting with and providing strategic advice to Ministers, Chief Executive Officers,
and/or Chairs of the Board.
• Experience in advocacy and promoting understanding of western or regional economic interest.
• Depth, breadth, and scope in any one or combination of the experience factors.
