✷ Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) recognizes that the diversity of its employee population contributes to its strength and integrity. By completing the Employment Equity section in your application, you help create a Public Service that is diverse, inclusive and representative of identities, cultures, perspectives and experiences that make up Canada.
🚩 HYBRID WORK MODE :
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) will be following the direction from the Office of the Chief Human Resource Officer on the introduction of a common hybrid work model across the federal public service. This common hybrid work model will consist of work on site at least 2–3 days each week, or 40–60% of their regular schedule.
As part of the Real Property, Environment, Security and Safety Regional Directorate (RPESSD), the Environmental Compliance Division (ECD) is a center of expertise that serves all DFO programs and business lines in the Quebec Region, providing advice and guidance to managers and employees on environmental compliance. In a continuous improvement approach, the environmental officer working within this team analyzes various environmental issues and challenges arising from DFO's assets and operations (including the Canadian Coast Guard-CCG) to ensure that the Department complies with environmental laws, regulations, policies and programs. This is done by providing advice to managers and decision-makers, training employees and conducting environmental compliance audits of DFO/CCG operational sites. It also carries out various projects according to the priorities of the environmental program.
The main environmental aspects considered are the management of hazardous materials, halocarbons, the management of petroleum storage tank systems and related products, the management of contaminated sites, wildlife species and their habitats, compliance with the Impact Assessment Act, and climate change and sustainable development.
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) permanent position and two (2) positions of approximately one (1) year duration with a possibility of extension and/or permament appointment.
A pool of full or partially qualified candidates may be established to fill identical or similar positions within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada whose workplaces may vary in the Quebec Region.
