The Chief Digital Officer sector within Fisheries and Oceans is growing and maturing to support the department in meeting the expectations of Canadians in the Digital era. 🎓 Education
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary educational program in Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management or another specialty relevant to the position being staffed.
Notes:
1.Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IT Group on December 11, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT Group.
2.Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. 3.It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution. ✔️ Experience
▫️ A minimum of three (3) years of recent** experience working as an IM/IT professional in the following area:
- Geographic Information Systems development, maintenance or support.
▫️ Recent** experience in leading an IM/IT project or having been responsible for a key deliverable throughout a project or initiative.
▫️ Recent** experience in providing GIS technical advice on projects.
** Recent is defined as experience within the last (5) five years.
⚡️ Education
Professional certification in one or more of the following IMIT areas: ITIL; Security; Microsoft; Oracle; Unix/Linux, Project Management, Business Analysis, Cloud, Mobile App Development, etc.
⚡️ Experience
▫️ Significant* experience in leading a project team including assigning and coordinating the work of technical staff.
▫️ Significant* experience constructing, deploying and maintaining enterprise GIS systems using ESRI products.
▫️ Significant* experience in application development using JavaScript, Python, Java or .NET technologies.
▫️ Experience in working with Enterprise GIS Platforms in the Cloud (Azure, AWS, etc.).
▫️ Experience developing and/or supporting GIS web applications in a Cloud Environment (Azure, AWS, etc.).
▫️ Significant* Experience developing web services (e.g., WMS, WFS).
▫️ Experience developing web mapping applications using Geocortex.
▫️ Experience developing, maintaining or supporting web-based information systems following Government of Canada web development standards including, but not limited to, Standard on Web Accessibility, Standard on Web Usability or Standard on Web Interoperability.
▫️ Experience in GIS system integration.
▫️ Experience in adapting to GIS trends.
▫️ Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
▫️ Experience in preparing and editing briefing notes or financial reports for senior management.
*Significant is defined as the breadth and depth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities over a period of approximately 2 years.
