**IMPORTANT FINANCIAL INFORMATION:

• Successful candidates may be eligible for the reimbursement of relocation costs.
• Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) range from $26,534 to $39,839 which is based on if the employee has dependents or is occupying staff housing.
• Vacation Travel Assistance is provided twice a year for each eligible member of the household.

Duties

DFO-Arctic Region staff are involved with the following types of work in collaboration with other federal departments, provincial and territorial governments, indigenous organizations and communities:

Junior Aquatic Science Technician (EG-03)

• Participate in meetings with local and regional organizations as a representative of DFO Fisheries Management, actively working to build and maintain positive, respectful, and constructive relationships with our co-management partners.
• Performing clerical work such as assisting in drafting contracts, learning about DFO administrative and financial systems, assisting in administrative processes required for various activities (travel, etc.), assisting in budgeting exercises and annual work planning, shipping and receiving scientific supplies and samples.
• Assist in responding to inquiries from the public regarding fisheries management in the local area (for example: answering the phone, explaining local fishery regulations to visitors, assisting in issuing some specific kinds of fishing licenses).
• Participating in the planning and organization of scientific studies and other projects.

Senior Aquatic Science Technician (EG-05)

• Participate in meetings with local and regional organizations as a representative of DFO Fisheries Management, actively working to build and maintain positive, respectful, and constructive relationships with our co-management partners.
• Performing clerical work such as drafting contracts, working with DFO administrative and financial systems, identifying and completing administrative processes required for various activities (travel, etc.), participating in budgeting exercises and annual work planning, shipping and receiving scientific supplies and samples.
• Assist in responding to inquiries from the public regarding fisheries management in the local area (for example: answering the phone, replying to emails, explaining local fishery regulations to visitors, issuing some specific kinds of fishing licenses).
• Taking a lead role in planning, organizing, and coordinating scientific studies and other projects.
• Developing and maintaining a well-organized system for storing project samples, data, and equipment.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to hire two indeterminate Aquatic Science Technicians on an indeterminate basis in Inuvik, NT; one (1) Junior EG-03 level, and one (1) Senior EG-05 level. A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures.

• Knowledge of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement and the Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement as related to fishery co-management in the Beaufort Delta region.
