📌The PC-02 incumbent will work under the direction of a team lead where they will be responsible for supporting scientific or technical projects using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in conjunction with other analytical tools. This work will involve the processing and analysis of various datasets collected in the freshwater and marine environments to advance departmental priorities and mandates.
📌The PC-03 incumbent will take strategic direction from management and will function in a team or program-lead role. With more in-depth Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience, and as a lead, the individual will be expected to direct research activities or technical projects that will be largely focused on GIS and spatial analysis.

👉Essential Qualifications
🎓Essential Education required for both PC-02 and PC-03:
✔️Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization* in geography, earth science, environmental sciences or some other science relevant to the position.
*The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
👉Essential Experience required for both PC-02 and PC-03

✔️Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
✔️Experience working on scientific or technical projects

🎓Asset Education:

👉Asset Experience:
✔️Experience in database design, data integration or query programming
✔️Experience in the development or deployment of online data products or applications
✔️Experience in using current computer programming or scripting languages (such as but not limited to R, Matlab, or Python)
✔️Experience in collecting data (e.g. field work, at-sea, or client engagement activities)
✔️Experience in conducting field work or going to sea aboard small or large vessels
✔️Experience in conducting multi-disciplinary studies in science or other relevant fields
✔️Experience liaising or collaborating or working cooperatively with clients, industry, stakeholder groups, or international members of the larger scientific community
✔️Experience in working in metadata and/or geospatial standards
✔️Experience providing advice and recommendations to peers, managers, or clients on the conduct, methodologies, or findings of scientific projects and investigations
