Intent of the process

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative for the SE classification. (See Note 1).

Note 1:
The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master’s degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.

Degree equivalency

Experience
• Significant experience of more than five years in conducting technical analyses, assessments or reviews in a field relevant to processing of critical minerals
• Significant experience of more than five years in managing, planning, and implementing resources to complete major projects working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of more than two years in providing technical support and advice to senior management

Information on language requirements

Knowledge
• Knowledge of Government of Canada policies and measures addressing issues related to processing of critical minerals including Natural Resources Canada’s mandate as it relates to critical minerals
• Knowledge of recent green mining technologies and techniques implemented in Canadian mining operations
• Knowledge of the purpose of research and development for upstream critical minerals processing
• Knowledge of the importance of development of battery and permanent magnet value chains for Canada’s low-carbon future
• Knowledge of the importance of rare earth elements for Canada
• Knowledge of the potential gaps in Canada’s critical minerals value chain
• Knowledge of international developments relating to critical minerals processing and development of value chains
