Transport Canada is responsible for transportation sector policies and programs. We promote a safe and secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation system. The Infrastructure and Operations group in the Quebec Region is looking for an IT Technician who wants to join the team and can learn quickly in an operational environment. We are a collaborative and dynamic team. We provide clients with the advice, office automation tools and technical support services necessary to efficiently process their program activities.
The main responsibilities are:
-Install, configure, troubleshoot and upgrade computer hardware and software in a Microsoft environment.
-Provide clients with on-site and virtual information technology (IT) support services.
-Provides advice to clients on IT matters.
-Install, configure and troubleshoot smart devices (iOS and Android).
📌 Workplace
The workplace for the position to be filled is located in Dorval and require a physical presence. Telework agreements may be discussed and approved at the time of hire for a combination of on-site and remote work.
The immediate need is to staff one (1) term TI-01 position for a period of one (1) year in Dorval, Quebec Region, with the possibility of extension.
A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) could be established and could be used to staff positions similar to this group and level in the Quebec Region. This process could be used to meet needs of varying lengths (acting, term and indeterminate), safety requirements and terms and conditions of employment within Transport Canada. Given the potential use of the selection process and the subsequent pool established by hiring managers, we invite all employees seeking such experience to apply.

EDUCATION
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

EXPERIENCE
• EX1: Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading hardware and software in a Microsoft environment in a multidisciplinary organization usually composed of more than 200 employees.
• EX2: Experience providing on-site and (or) telephone information technology (IT) support services to clients in a formal capacity (e.g., as a member of an IT team providing onsite support; a service centre, etc.).
• EX3: Experience in providing advice to clients on IT matters.
ASSET- EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Experience using Microsoft's Active Directory.
AEX2: Experience in configuring smartphones.

• Be able and willing to work occasionally outside normal working hours and weekends.

• The job requires working under the following conditions: bending down and stretching below desks to
reach the equipment.

ASSESSMENT - RESCHEDULING
