POSITION LOCATION:

Duties

OSFI’s Non-Financial Risk Division (NFR) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team in the role of Senior Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to develop robust practices and tools for the assessment of FRFI data governance and data management programs.
Responsibilities will include:
• Develop and execute programs and tools for the assessment of FRFI data management programs including internal training material.
• Provide expert advice and mentoring related to data management practices both within Non-Financial Risk and to other areas of OSFI including Supervision.
• Manage and identify risks related to the governance and management of data and communicating internally within OSFI and externally to the FRFIs.
• Enhance ORD’s capabilities in assessing risks related to the management and aggregation of data and associated controls as well as furthering OSFI’s supervisory framework/methodology related to operational resilience, in particular the contribution of data governance/management to the achievement of operational resilience.
• Enable OSFI to assess FRFIs’ abilities in respect of data risk management and other operational risks as appropriate in order to complete its mission to safeguard depositors and policyholders.
• Keep up to date with data management and data governance best practices and trends and apply this knowledge in relevant supervisory and policy work.
• Assist in administering a regulatory framework that contributes to public confidence in a competitive financial system.
• Execute responsibilities under the OSF’s Operational Risk and related guidelines and review FRFIs’ alignment with Basel’s Principles for Effective Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting, Principles for the Sound Management of Operational Risk, Principles for Operational Resilience as well as FRFI approaches and processes, focusing on, but not limited to, aspects of data management (maintenance, integrity and quality).
