The RCMP Body Worn Camera unit is a new unit within K Division. Do you want to contribute to a dynamic unit that increases accountability, responsibility and transparency in the RCMP? This unit will provide support for front line members in the use of Body Worn Cameras and the policy and procedures surrounding the use, storage, retention and disclosure of the video created.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, and acting) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
(Proof of education must be presented prior to appointment.)

Degree equivalency

Experience researching and analyzing legislation, regulations or policies.
Recent* and significant** experience giving advice and recommendations to clients, management*** or external stakeholders**** regarding interpretation of legislation, regulations or policies.
Significant** experience supervising and managing staff (ex: supervising, workload assignment and management, performance management, employee development, leave etc.).
Significant** experience in planning, coordinating, implementing or managing projects.

*Recent experience is acquired by carrying out those duties within the past three (3) years.
**Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of duties for one (1) year.
***Management refers to AS-06 (or equivalent) and above.
****External Stakeholders are defined as other government/private sector partners.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer science, business administration, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience in participating on national committees or working groups for the preparation and implementation and support of enterprise solutions.
Experience developing and delivering presentation and training material.
Experience in managing a support service program.
Experience in financial management.
Experience with Body Worn Cameras or Digital Evidence Management in a law enforcement environment.

Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).

Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
