EDUCATION

GL-MDO-04:
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the field of general labour.

GL-MDO-05; GL-MDO-06:
Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 3 (DZ in Ontario) Driver’s License with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work

Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 (Class A in Ontario) Driver’s License with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

GL-MDO-04:
- Experience as a labourer;
- Experience in operating and maintaining various manuals, electric and/or mechanical tools;
- Experience in operating 50–75 HP motorized equipment and vehicles.

GL-MDO-05
- Experience operating tractor trailers or highway passenger bus/school bus.

GL-MDO-06
- At least two years’ experience within the past five years in the operation of a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to: Dump Truck, Front End Loader, Bulldozer, Backhoe, Excavator or Grader.

🚌Note: This specific criteria is for Cargo and Passengers stream only:
At least two years’ experience within the past five years operating and driving a tractor trailer and a passengers vehicles rated for 21 passengers or more.

- Vocational diploma in heavy equipment operation or the equivalent from any province

🚌Note: This specific criteria is for Cargo and Passengers:
- Hold a Professional truck driving Diploma in or the equivalent from any province.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience in industrial snow-clearing
- Experience working in snow and ice control operations
- Experience in road maintenance
- Experience maintaining unpaved surfaces
- Experience performing operator inspections and daily maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment
- Experience in maintaining driver logs, defect sheets and other applicable documentation
- Experience working or volunteering in a mixed military/civilian environment

🚌Note: The following specific criteria is for Cargo and Passengers:
- Experience loading and unloading cargo
- Experience driving a Bus for more than 21 passengers
- Experience operating a fork lift up to 36000 lbs.
- Experience driving tractor trailer
- Experience providing training and individual evaluation

Depending on the position being staffed:
- Additional qualifications may be required for some positions and you may be contacted and asked to submit information or to be further assessed against these qualifications
- Asset qualifications can be applied as essential qualifications as identified by the hiring manager

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to obtain and retain a DND 404 driver’s license
- Overtime may be required
- Shift work may be required
- Callbacks may be required
- Willing and able to work evenings, nights and weekends
- Willing and able to travel, work overtime if required.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Conditions of employment
- Possession of a valid DZ Driver’s License without restrictions from the province of Ontario or other provincial or territorial equivalent
- Must be able and available to work shift work, weekends, overtime, and stand by as required and sometimes on short notice
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a valid departmental driver’s licenses (DND 404)
- Able to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 30 kg, climbing ladders, working on uneven surfaces, and sitting for periods of 4-5 hours on a daily basis
- Must be able to travel within the Province of Quebec and Ontario and across Canada.
- Current and up-to-date driver's abstract from the candidate's provincial transportation authority showing evidence of a satisfactory and safe driving record for the last three years.

🚌Note: These specific conditions are for Cargo and Passengers:
- Holder of a valid class 1 driver’s license.
- Be willing to have a medical examination.
