The Materiel Acquisition and Support Officer Development Program is an entry level program where trainees start at one of the following classifications groups and levels: PG-02, EN-ENG-02, EG-03, EL-03 or TI-03 level.

During the program, trainees complete various developmental phases that consist of a variety of courses, tasks and on the job training. Hands on experience enables trainees to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge to be promoted to the next classification level/pay incentive.

Once trainees have successfully completed all developmental phases they are ready to graduate from the program and move on to a career within the Department of National Defence.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill 6 positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis.

There are positions immediately available in:

EDUCATION

💻 EG-03
Graduation with a three-year program Technologist Diploma from a recognized college level post-secondary institution in a technology program relevant to the position to be filled;
OR
An acceptable combination of post-secondary education/training coupled with a minimum of five years technical work experience in a field of technology relevant to the position to be filled.

🔋 EL-03
Graduation with a three-year Electronics Technologist Diploma from a recognized college level post-secondary institution or in another field of technology relevant to the position to be filled such as such as Communications systems technology, radar and sonar technology, Energy systems engineering technology and /or instrumentation and control engineering technology
OR
An acceptable combination of post-secondary education/training coupled with a minimum of five years technical work experience in a field of technology relevant to the position to be filled.

🔌 TI-03
Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a Technology program of a minimum 2 years in duration such as: Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Maritime, Software or Industrial Engineering Technology.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE

Applicable to all groups and levels:
AEX1. Experience working or volunteering in a mixed military/civilian environment

💻 Applicable to EG-03 positions only:
AEX2. Experience in relevant fields of technology such as but not limited to electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, instrumentations engineering technology, aeronautical engineering technology, avionics engineering technology, naval engineering technology.

🔌 Applicable to TI-03 positions only:
AEX3. Experience with aircraft, marine or land vehicle technology
AEX4. Experience with business principles and practices in management and quality assurance
AEX5. Experience in quality control or quality assurance in a manufacturing company, or in the maintenance of mechanical, aeronautical, electronic or industrial equipment

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Note: Applicable to all groups and levels.

May be required to travel across Canada and internationally by various means of transportation.

🔌Applicable to TI-03 positions only:
May be required to travel to military bases in Canada for extended tasks.
May be required to agree to regularly travel to contractors’ facilities.
May be required to wear protective clothing as they might be exposed to regular plant hazards such as but not limited to: radiation and nuclear material, volatile fumes, operating machinery, vehicular traffic, noise, fumes, heat and cold.

Managers may establish operational requirements specific to the position being staffed. These requirements will be communicated to the candidates considered for that specific appointment.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

All trainees must attain and maintain a Level II (Secret) security clearance prior to graduating from the Program. Failure to do so may result in removal from the program.

Candidates appointed from outside the federal public service will be on probation for the duration of the program.

🔌 This specific condition of employment is applicable to TI-03 positions only:
Trainee must hold a valid driver’s license.

Managers may establish other conditions of employment specific to the position being staffed. These conditions will be communicated to the candidates considered for that specific appointment.
