The Privy Council Office (PCO) is the hub of non-partisan, public service support to the Prime Minister and Cabinet and its decision-making structures.
Led by the Clerk of the Privy Council, PCO helps the Government implement its vision and respond effectively and quickly to issues facing the government and the country.
Because it is a small department, you have the chance to work with all sub-delegated managers (including Deputy Ministers) and the opportunity to develop in-depth organizational awareness.
The PCO has begun implementing its plan for transition to a hybrid workplace. The employees must report to a PCO office in the National Capital Region (NCR) two to three times per week and the hybrid model of PCO will evolve so that there is presence on the premises for the equivalent of three days a week by March 31, 2023, with the possibility of teleworking the rest of the week, subject to operational requirements. This model offers interesting possibilities for combine the best of our traditions with new methods to foster a public service diverse and healthy.
We are looking to staff one position within our Audit and Verification team. The position is located in downtown Ottawa.

EDUCATION
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in business, public administration, finance, commerce, accounting, economics or another discipline relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
• Significant* and recent** experience in planning, conducting and reporting on internal audits.
• Recent** experience in preparing and presenting briefing materials on audit findings, conclusions and recommendations to senior management***
• Significant* and recent** experience in project management.
• Recent** experience in supervising the work of audit staff.
*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the full-time performance of these duties for a period of three (3) years, two (2) of which must have been consecutive.
**Recent experience is defined as within the last five (5) years.
***Senior management – in this situation, this refers to Director-General level or above in the Federal Government of Canada.
EDUCATION
• Possession of one of the following professional accounting designations - Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified General Accountant (CGA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
• Certification in one of the following professional internal auditing designations - Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Public Administration (MPA) or Master’s degree in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in risk-based audit planning.
• Experience in data analytics/ approaches (e.g., analyzing sets of data using software such as Audit Command Language (ACL) or Caseware IDEA or process efficiencies (e.g. Lean or Six Sigma).

• Knowledge of internal audit standards (Institute of Internal Auditors - IIA), principles, methodologies and procedures.
