📌Workplace
The successful candidates will be required to work at one of our office in the Atlantic region, in a hybrid work mode. A part-time telework agreement may be discussed and implemented at the time of hiring in accordance with the operational needs of the position to be filled.

Intent of the process

This process is in support of current and future staffing needs within the Indigenous Services Canada, Atlantic Region. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications will be contacted for consideration. Positions may become available in First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Community Infrastructure; Education; Social Programs; Child and Family Services; Lands, Environment, and Economic Development; and Governance, Transfer Payments and Partnerships teams.

A pool of qualified candidates will also be established and could be used to fill identical or similar positions within the federal public service with various tenure, linguistic profiles, operational requirements and security requirements.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.

*The experience required for the acceptable combination is defined as five (5) years of experience in a field directly related to the position (such as economic development, program administration, education, community infrastructure, mental health, or addictions).

4. Experience interpreting and applying financial policies and procedures.

ASSET - EDUCATION
Graduation with a diploma (post-secondary) or degree (baccalaureate or higher-level degree) from a recognized post-secondary institution in a subject matter area related to the position to be staffed.

Experience working with Indigenous people, communities or organizations.
Experience in supervising a team.

Experience in any of the following areas:
• Mental Health and Addictions, and/or other health related fields
• Social Work in child protection and services
• Lands management
• Economic Development
• Emergency management
• Infrastructure project management
• High volume call center (40 to 50 calls per day)

Experience in any of the following financial/funding arrangement/audit areas:
• Leading the interpretation and application of financial directives, systems or standards for Indigenous governments, municipalities, provincial or federal governments.
• Reporting on financial health from a review of detailed financial audits.
• Explaining complex financial policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
• Performing, reviewing or compiling an audit file or financial statements.
• Using Grants and Contributions Information Management System (GCIMS) to administer funding agreements.
• Experience with funding arrangements processes and procedures.

ASSET - ABILITY
Ability to speak Mi’kmaw, Wolastoqey, Inuit or Innu-Aimun.

ASSETS - KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of intergenerational trauma and its impact on Indigenous communities.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed service approaches.
