The Alberta RCMP Operations Strategy Branch supports operations by ensuring that the Division is a strategically focused, aligned, and intelligence-led organization of excellence.
The Operations Support Analyst supports all levels of the service delivery model in Alberta, as well as the RCMP’s provincial and municipal contract partners, through ongoing research, analysis, and the presentation of empirically defensible strategies to attain organization goals. This role employs intelligence methodologies to examine business, crime and criminal data and trends from internal and external sources.
Key duties may include:
• Collecting, collating and analyzing detachment, district and division level data from internal RCMP databases and open sources to determine trends in crime, resourcing, economics and demographics;
• Conducting strategic and tactical analysis to provide real-time assessment of service delivery and organizational response to criminal activity;
• Writing reports and briefing notes;
• Creating analytical maps, graphs and other visual representations of data;
• Modifying or developing quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and assessment tools;
• Conducting Police Resource Methodology studies;
• Analyzing relevant survey data;
• Presenting analytical results to detachment and district commanders; and
• Establishing and maintaining a network of internal and external contacts.
This process will initially be used to staff up to four (4) positions on an indeterminate basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates. This pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Your résumé.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in social sciences, such as Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science or Criminology. A recognized post-secondary degree including courses in statistics and research methods would also be suitable, such as Business / Commerce, Math or Statistics.
Experience in researching, integrating and analyzing information from various sources.
Experience applying qualitative and quantitative research methods to complete a program evaluation, project or report.
Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management*, internal or external clients.
*Senior management is defined as executive level.
Recent and significant** experience with the use, manipulation and creation of reports using Microsoft Excel software.
**Recent and significant is defined as a minimum of two (2) years’ experience within the last three (3) years.
Master’s level degree or courses.
Experience using PROS, SAP, or HRMIS.
