Intent of the process

Anticipatory Staffing - A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff positions with various tenures.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Recent experience in the operation of a skid steer Bobcat S590 or similar model
**Recent is defined as experience normally obtained within the past 5 years

Recent experience in the operation of a tractor John Deere 6430 or similar model
**Recent is defined as experience normally obtained within the past 5 years

Experience operating small equipment such as riding garden tractors, riding lawn mowers, push lawn mowers, chain saws, and weed whippers

Recent experience in the operation of a front end loader Case 621 or similar model
**Recent is defined as experience normally obtained within the past 5 years

Experience tending to a lawn, flower bed or garden in the outdoors or in a greenhouse

Experience working with basic computer applications such as Internet or email or word processing software

Experience of the operation and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment

Successful completion of a training program that includes all of the elements set out in Table 14.1 of O-1.1 Reg 1 Occupational Health and Safety, 1996.

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Landscape offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and hold a valid pesticide applicator licence issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act.

Successful completion of the Pesticide Applicator Course in Greenhouse offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and hold a valid pesticide applicator licence issued under the Pest Control Products (Sask) Act.

Degree equivalency

Recent experience in the operation of a road grader Volvo 720B or similar model
**Recent is defined as experience normally obtained within the past 5 years

Experience in greenhouse operations

Willing and able to lift and carry objects (maximum of 25 kilograms/55 pounds)

Willing and able to work in varying weather conditions including; snow, rain, heat and cold

Willing and able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with safety rules

Willing and able to be available to be on standby, to work shift work, work overtime on short notice, and work evenings and/or weekends

Willing and able to attend all training as required

Security Clearance: RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s Licence equivalent to a Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s Licence equivalent to a Saskatchewan Class 3 Driver’s Licence with “A” Endorsement within two years from date of appointment.

Information on employment equity

You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and experience criteria (essential and asset) for the initial screening, in answering online screening questions. The successful candidate will be required to provide original documentation of proof of Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident status prior to appointment. The following documents will be accepted as proof: Provincial or territorial birth certificate; Naturalization certificates (issued prior to Jan. 1, 1947); Registration of Birth Abroad certificates (issued between Jan. 1, 1947 and Feb. 14, 1977); Certificates of Retention; Citizenship certificates; Permanent resident card.

Testing/interviews will be conducted at the location of the employer's choice.

The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, on-line activities, alcohol and/or drug use, etc.

Successful applicant is required to work in Regina, Saskatchewan. Telework or alternate work locations will not be an option.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
