You will clearly outline in your cover letter how you meet each of the screening qualifications (education and experience - both essential and assets) by using headers to clearly indicate the qualification you are demonstrating. Please note that it is not sufficient to only state that you meet the experience qualification, rather you must provide concrete examples. When describing your experience for each factor, describe or list specifically what activities you have done that would sufficiently demonstrate how recent and how extensive your experience is.
Any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. The RCMP’s Forensic Video Analysis Unit (FVAU) is looking to fill a total of four (4) indeterminate, full-time vacancies. This includes three (3) entry-level Forensic Video Technicians and a more experienced Forensic Video Analyst. The FVAU conducts scientific forensic analyses of digital multimedia evidence (DME) for federal, provincial and/or municipal jurisdiction criminal investigations conducted by the RCMP and other law enforcement partners.
Two (2) Technicians and the Analyst will be staffed in the FVAU’s lab in Surrey, British Columbia at the BC RCMP Headquarters in Green Timbers Park and one (1) Technician in either the lab in Edmonton, Alberta or Calgary, Alberta.
The FVAU routinely works on weekdays (in either a regular or compressed work week) with occasional to frequent overtime opportunities on evenings and weekends.
These positions are located in a law enforcement environment and includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers. There is also exposure to imagery of a sensitive, graphic and disturbing nature while carrying out duties, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EDUCATION
Essential Education Qualification for Both Streams
ED1: Successful completion of a degree or diploma program from a recognized post-secondary institution specializing in audio/video, video production, digital media, radio-television-film, photography or a related field deemed acceptable OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note: At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met via this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
You must indicate in your cover letter which Stream(s) you are applying to. Failure to indicate that you are applying to a given stream will result in you being eliminated from that stream.
Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.
Please note that within the context of this selection process, travel costs/expenses will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.
Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.
Occasional telework (i.e. working from home) may be considered once established in the position, however, remote or virtual working is not an option.
This process and the resulting pool will only be used to staff positions in the RCMP.
All information obtained throughout the selection process, from time of application to close of process, may be used to evaluate candidates.
Any information provided by a candidate through their application or assessment that is deemed to be incorrect or fraudulent will be eliminated from further consideration.
Experience qualifications will be assessed upon application. Further confirmation or assessment may be conducted through reference checks.
