Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience in conducting stock assessments of anadromous salmonids.
Experience in quantitative analysis of biological data using computer software to analyse and report results.

Knowledge of the biology of Pacific Salmon.
Knowledge of field enumeration techniques related to the enumeration of juvenile and adult salmonid populations.
Knowledge of fish stock management concepts and their inter-relationships with stock assessment.
Knowledge of statistical methodology applied to fish population studies.
Ability to plan, organize and carry out assignments.

A graduate degree in the fields of biology, resource management, fisheries statistics, quantitative ecology or other relevant area.
Experience designing, conducting, analyzing and reporting stock assessments of anadromous salmonids.
Experience in data management.
Experience in quantitative and statistical analysis.
Experience preparing technical or scientific reports.
Experience working with public and private groups, First Nations, or other government agencies.
Experience in the application of acoustic enumeration techniques of salmon populations.
Knowledge of field enumeration techniques relating to all fresh water life history phases of Pacific Salmon.
Knowledge of the fisheries, gear types, stakeholders and First Nations interests regarding Pacific Region salmon populations.

Valid CCG Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
Work overtime including weekends, shiftwork and variable hours, as required to meet operational needs.
Travel to attend meetings and/or conduct field work in remote locations in Canada or the United States.
Working around, on or in water, including lakes and swiftwater environments.
Participate in periods of strenuous physical work associated with field activities.
Flying in helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft.
Reliability Status security clearance
A valid BC Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent.
Health Canada Medical Clearance.
Valid first aid certification (minimum level 1) with CPR.
Attain and maintain certifications as may be required to meet Departmental health and safety standards
