Duties

The Technical Team Lead (Airworthiness), develops, implements, organizes and manages the delivery of certification and safety oversight plans as they relate to aircraft maintenance and manufacturing. This involves developing and implementing business and operational plans, identifying and establishing required resource levels, coordinating the activities of technical and specialized staff and providing them with leadership and guidance. The Technical Team Lead (Airworthiness) exercises a broad set of delegations of authority from the Minister of Transport and manages a team of individuals who also exercise a broad set of delegation of authority over individuals, enterprises and Minister's delegates, and communicates on a regular basis with individuals, including Accountable Executives, senior managers and other representatives of enterprises, organizations, other government agencies and Minister's delegates.

EDUCATION:
• Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance and/or aviation manufacturing.

QUALIFICATION
• Possession of a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence;

OR

• University degree, college certificate or a current membership in the American Society for Quality Control and six (6) or more years of industry experience in the performance or supervision of aeronautical product manufacturing processes.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Extensive experience in the performance of complex activities in a wide variety of situations in manufacturing or maintenance of aeronautical products.

• Extensive experience in demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility throughout their career in manufacturing or maintenance of aeronautical products.

• Six (6) or more years of Industry experience as a licensed AME or manufacturing of aeronautical products.

• Recent* experience holding Aircraft Certifying Authority (ACA) or Shop Certifying Authority (SCA) in a Canadian approved aircraft maintenance organization (AMO)and/or holding certifying authority within a Canadian approved manufacturing organization,
or
• Recent* experience holding supervisory or maintenance control or quality assurance responsibilities in a Canadian AMO or Canadian approved manufacturer,
or
• Exercising Ministerial delegation as a Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, Airworthiness or Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, Airworthiness (Manufacturing).

• Recent* experience in managing or supervising a team or workforce. **

• Recent* experience applying risk management concepts and principles.

• Experience in managing projects.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with aircraft products.
• Experience in developing or evaluating management systems.
• Experience in conducting assessments or evaluation of compliance.
• Experience in supervising multi-disciplinary teams.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to travel via all modes of transportation to remote and/or isolated locations
Willing and able to work in an aviation environment (i.e. noise, fumes, hazards)
Willing and able to work overtime, irregular hours and weekends
