Work environment

The Program Officer position works in a collaborative, fast paced team environment for the delivery and administration of publicly-directed programs, projects and initiatives such as the Environmental Damages Fund (EDF), the EcoAction Community Funding Program, and/or any other publicly-directed program within the Strategic Policy Branch. The successful candidate will participate in negotiations and consultations, promotion of programs, ensuring compliance with legislation, as well as provide advice and recommendations on programs, policy and operational issues.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be established from this process which will be used to staff positions within the Regional Director General Offices within the Strategic Policy Branch. The pool may also be used to staff similar positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada, with various language requirements and profiles, security levels and employment tenures which may vary according to the position being staffed.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization
in a field relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Ex1: Experience contributing to the planning and delivery of funding programs OR experience as a recipient of funding, with responsibility including but not limited to application development, negotiating agreements and reporting.
Ex2: Experience working with or developing partnerships with stakeholders.
Ex3: Experience synthesizing information from multiple sources into reports or presentations to inform decision making.

6. Candidates must meet the minimum pass mark determine for each criteria in order to be found qualified and considered for appointment or to be placed in the pool.

7. Candidates are strongly encouraged to indicate if they meet any of the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed. Meeting one or many of the asset qualifications may be a deciding factor in appointing a particular candidate amongst the qualified candidates. Please note that one, some or all the asset qualifications could be used at any stage of the staffing process.

8. Communication for this process will be sent via email. Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
