Duties

Stream 1 - Policy Analyst (EC-05)
Position duties would include, but are not limited to:
Develop and prepare briefing materials for senior management, including briefing notes, correspondence, presentations, and analysis reports. Monitor, analyze, and synthesize information relating to policy or programs. Coordinate input from various units, sectors, directorates, and offices, both internal and external to Saskatchewan Region. Work within tight timelines to complete taskings and prioritize work. Liaise with stakeholders to discuss policy issues and initiatives.

Stream 2 - Senior Policy Analyst (EC-06)
Position duties would include, but are not limited to:
Liaise with senior management and national office officials on departmental priority policies or programs. Attend interdepartmental/departmental meetings to discuss files and coordinate file requirements. Coordinate and manage specific files and formulate recommendations and advice for consideration by senior management. Work within tight timelines to complete taskings and prioritize work. Liaise with stakeholders to discuss policy issues and initiatives, define policy and program activities, coordinate policy development, and remain up-to-date on trends and developments. Supervise a team.

Intent of the process

The intent is to staff this position via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar temporary positions, acting, assignments/secondments, or deployments in Saskatchewan.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education (Stream 1 and 2):
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, or statistics.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

Stream 1 and Stream 2:
-Experience preparing briefing materials for management, such as correspondence, briefing notes, presentations or analysis reports.
-Experience in planning meetings or events with stakeholders.
-Experience in developing and maintaining external partnerships or collaborative relationships with stakeholders from various sectors (Indigenous community, government, academia, etc.).

Stream 2 only:
-*Significant experience in writing documents for **senior management such as: correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, analysis reports, Question Period cards, memoranda, speaking points, media lines, issue or discussion papers.
-Experience in preparing or supporting the development of recommendations for negotiations on complex issues, involving various internal and external stakeholders.

* Significant is defined as experience of a sufficient depth and breadth normally associated with at least two (2) years of work.
**Senior management is defined as Director, Regional Executive, Regional Director General, Chief and Council or equivalent and above.
