• Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in chemistry, natural, physical or applied science.
• Applicants submitting education credentials from a non-Canadian institution are responsible for obtaining certification that these credentials are the equivalent of the Canadian education level required for the position.
EE1: Recent and significant** experience in supervising technical staff including assignment of work.
EE2: Recent and significant** experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting analytical laboratory equipment such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS and IC for analyzing mining and environmental samples.
EE3: Recent and significant** experience in solid sample digestion for solution preparation.
EE4: Recent and significant** experience in implementing and enforcing health and safety procedures and programs.
EE5: Recent and significant** experience in preparing or modifying standard operating procedures (SOP) for sample analysis.
EE6: Recent and significant** experience in utilizing Microsoft Excel to process analytical data.
**Recent and significant is defined as experience acquired within the last three to five (3 - 5) years.

Information on language requirements
• Knowledge of general inorganic analytical chemistry,
• Knowledge of mineralogical sample digestion techniques,
• Knowledge of quality control and assurance (QA/QC) practices and principles,
• Knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation used for the measurement of elements and ions in a variety of complex liquid or solid samples.
• Knowledge of statistical techniques in the processing of analytical data and of macros in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate and distribute work to laboratory’s technical support staff.
• Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP-OES, ICP-MS and IC or carbon/Sulphur analyzer
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
