The intent of this process is, in part, to respond to the Clerk of the Privy Council’s Call to Action for leaders in the Public Service to appoint, sponsor, support and recruit Indigenous candidates to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce. This opportunity provides a step forward in creating a staff complement reflective of the peoples, communities, First Nations, Inuit and Métis partners we work with and for.

For the purpose of staffing within the federal public service, the term Aboriginal is used, as per the Employment Equity Act, to define a North American Indigenous person as members of First Nations, Inuit or Métis. North American Indigenous people or members of First Nations include treaty, status or registered Indigenous people, as well as those on-status and non-registered. However, please note that the terms Aboriginal and Indigenous are used interchangeably within this job advertisement. Both terms include First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

Duties

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?

This position will contribute to the delivery and administration of Jordan’s Principle. This position will provide information, advice and guidance and respond to inquiries and issues from management, staff, clients and stakeholders regarding Jordan’s Principle program services, policies, procedures and guidelines to support clients in accessing funding for services.

WORK FROM WHERE YOU ARE!

Our team has been working remotely since March 2020. While we don’t know what our “office of the future” will look like, we do know that remote work works. That means you don’t need to be in any of our National Capital Region or Regional Offices to be considered for a role on this team. Please note it may be possible to telework from anywhere within Canada on a case-by-case basis.

Individuals who believe are qualified for the position are encouraged to apply, regardless of where they live or work.

Work environment

In the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada, we strive to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system for First Nations and Inuit. We are searching for a collaborative and strategic individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, with a strong focus on quality client service. By joining our department, you will have the opportunity to provide direct support related to health services and community-based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.

Intent of the process

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
