Work environment

Depending on your experience and interests, you could be contacted for positions in three different fields:

Workplace Technology Team: Where you will help prepare, deploy and replace laptops, mobile devices, printers and other peripherals used by the 15,000 employees of the department.

Tier-1 IT Support Team: Where you will provide remote support and guidance to DFO employees experiencing difficulties with their IT devices or applications, and helping them resolve their incident as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Tier-2 IT Support Team: Where you will provide advanced support to DFO employees with specific IT needs and facing complex IT incidents requiring deeper investigation, and that cannot be answered and resolved by Tier-1.

Opportunities for advancement and assignment from one team to another are also possible, if you have the necessary experience.

Intent of the process

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

*At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be reassessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

Experience :
• Experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows desktop software and hardware.
• Experience providing IT technical support to clients and troubleshooting issues with software or hardware in a Windows environment.
• Experience following standards, processes, and logging information in an IT Service Management (ITSM) tool (ticketing system).

Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
