What responsibilities will you take on?
As a Hearings Coordinator, you will report to the Director, Court Operations of the Tax Court of Canada. The key activities and responsibilities of the position are:
Provide registry services to the Court, litigants and the public
Provide client service such as litigation support, appeal scheduling and compliance services for informal and general procedure appeals and applications before the Tax Court of Canada;
Provide guidance and support on procedural and administrative requirements to the general public, professionals, lawyers and the Justices of the Tax Court of Canada;
Manage the scheduling and adjournments of appeals and applications before the Tax Court of Canada;
Manage the scheduling of telephone conference calls and virtual hearings
Make arrangements and recommendations for interpreters and other required accommodations for Court hearings
Using a Bring Forward “BF” system, ensure deadlines are met and necessary action is taken to comply with the applicable Acts and Rules Verify, process and file Court documents
Provide verbal responses and develop written responses to enquiries regarding general and specific appeal cases before the Tax Court of Canada.
A pool of pre-qualified or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure, various linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Courts Administration Service.

Successful completion of two (2) years post-secondary* education OR an acceptable combination of education, training or experience related to the position**.
Definitions:
* Post-secondary education means years of education following high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V).
** Acceptable combination of education, training or experience related to the position is defined as a high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V) and two (2) years of work experience in a legal and/or office environment.
Recent* and significant** experience writing correspondence and summaries.
Recent* and significant** experience in interpreting, analyzing and/or applying procedures, guidelines, policies, regulations, legislation, rules or directives.
Definition:
*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.
** Significant experience is defined as the breadth and depth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task for 12 consecutive months.
Graduation with a degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization relevant to the position (Law, Public or Business Administration or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed).
Experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience working in a legal environment such as a Board, Commission, Tribunal, Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal), law firm or equivalent.
Experience working as a Hearings Coordinator, Registry Officer, or similar position in a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).
Experience working in the Tax Court of Canada Registry.
Experience working at the Courts Administration Service.
Experience using a Bring Forward “BF” system.
Experience managing an inventory.
