As a Trades Helper, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
✅ Ensures the optimal health delivery to First Nations people by supporting a high standard Maintenance, Repair, Replacement and Renovation Program to all facilities located in Sioux Lookout and northern isolated communities.
✅ Operates, maintains and cares for a variety of hand tools such as chain saws, weed eaters, lawn tillers, hedge trim cutters and motorized or power operated equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors, and vehicles used to perform tasks.
✅ Uses and maintains Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety boots, goggles, masks, gloves, respirator, in specific, potentially dangerous or hazardous situations.
✅ Manages and accounts for funds associated with obtaining equipment and/or supplies for minor repairs.
✅ Demonstrates established working practices and procedures to new staff.

EDUCATION
ED1 - Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

- Frequent travel by small aircraft or motor vehicle as per the demands of the job to communities in remote areas in all types of weather

Reliability Status security clearance - Applicants who have not lived in Canada for the past five (or ten, depending on security level) years may be required to submit a police certificate from each country in which they have lived for six months or more during this period, as well as other documentation required for the security screening process. Failure to submit this documentation if requested will eliminate the application from further consideration.
OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The following conditions of employment are required for an appointment:
- A valid Category 1 medical clearance – Preplacement (including dependents) as per section 4.2 of the Isolated Post and Government Housing Directive for positions in Sioux Lookout (Ontario).
- Undertake a Category 1 periodic health evaluation (including dependents) in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule for positions in Sioux Lookout (Ontario).

Note that there is a fee to receive this certificate and the displayed wait time for the production of the certificate may be several months, however; requiring proof of citizenship in order to obtain employment would be considered an urgent reason, significantly reducing the wait time.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
