Looking to join a dynamic team and make a difference in aquatic ecosystems? DFO Gulf Region in Moncton NB has immediate opportunities for various senior biologist and senior analyst positions. These supervisory roles include leading projects related to either species at risk, fish and fish habitat protection, aquatic invasive species, marine conservation, marine environmental quality, marine planning and/or integrated planning. In your duties, you will be part of a growing team working through the regulatory context of the Fisheries Act, Oceans Act and/or Species at Risk Act using related policies and guidance and may interact with other DFO sectors (such as scientists, economists, and fisheries management), Indigenous groups and/or external partners and stakeholders.
The current intention of the process is to staff various tenures for both streams (Stream 1: BI-03 - Senior Biologist, fish and fish habitat protection, marine planning and conservation, or species at risk and Stream 2: PC-03 - Senior Analyst, Physical Science, marine planning) within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans area office located in Moncton (NB) and will require a physical presence at the office on a regular basis
This process could also be used to staff future positions with various tenures (indeterminate, determinate, deployment, acting, and assignment/secondment) with similar requirements, various language requirements, profiles, various security requirements and locations.

EDUCATION:
Stream 1: BI-03 - Senior Biologist
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a biological, natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Stream 2: PC-03 - Senior Analyst
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization
EXPERIENCE
Stream 1: BI-03 - Senior Biologist
Stream 2: PC-03 - Senior Analyst
Experience working in natural resource management or with environmental issues.
Experience assessing, synthesizing or analyzing science-based information from a variety of sources.
Experience providing or contributing to developing science-based advice and recommendations to resolve environmental issues.
Experience providing or contributing to status updates, briefings or presentations to management.
Experience representing the position of a government agency or an organization at meetings.
EDUCATION:

Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a biological science or other field related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
Stream 1: BI-03 - Senior Biologist

Experience with Indigenous, partner or stakeholder consultations or engagement on environmental issues.
Experience in building and/or maintaining collaborative relationships or partnerships with external partners or organizations.
Experience in marine planning, designating protected areas or managing protected areas.
Experience supervising staff and/or managing project budgets.
Experience using spatial information visualization or analysis tools.
Stream 1: BI-03 - Senior Biologist
Experience conducting regulatory reviews to evaluate the environmental effects of projects on aquatic species or ecosystems.
Experience with the listing or recovery of species at risk.
