The Federal Public Service is stronger and most effective when we reflect the diversity of the Canadian population we serve. Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is dedicated to building and promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce, representative of Canadian society. All candidates who believe they are qualified are encouraged to apply, including Indigenous peoples, Black, other racialized peoples, women, persons with disabilities and persons of the LGBTQ2+ community.
With respect to the transition to a flexible work model, our branch is committed to a flexible approach that is consistent with ESDC's departmental direction. Thus, we are acting with caution in implementing this new approach for all of our staff. We will do the same to measure our progress to ensure we can adjust along the way, as needed.
What the Income Security and Social Development Branch (ISSD) can offer you:
• Our leaders strongly believe in the importance of building links between social and economic policy in government decision-making, the power of quantitative and qualitative evidence, and inclusivity as a key policy and program objective. They understand and value the importance of diversity in the public service and encourage both physical and mental well-being of employees.
• Our overarching Branch strategy is to create a workplace that is healthy, fully inclusive, well-equipped, and enables employees to realize their full potential.
• We offer a people-centered environment that builds on excellence in management. We stand firm behind our values of diversity, inclusion, accessibility, innovation, and creating a true sense of belonging for everyone who works here.
• We have a dedicated team of Branch Networks, Champions, and Committees who work together to shape the culture of our workplace and foster a better understanding of employees’ experiences.
As an EC-05 or EC-06, you would lead or support the modernization and creation of policies that have an impact on the lives of millions of Canadians. You would be contributing to policies and programs like:
• Old Age Security
• Canada Pension Plan
• Canada Pension Plan Disability
• Canada Disability Savings Program
• Social Innovation and Social Finance Strategy
• Social Development Partnerships Program
• New Horizons for Seniors Program
• Enabling Accessibility Fund
The intent of this process is to establish a pool of partially qualified candidates at the EC-05 or EC-06 level that can be used to staff multiple positions within the Income Security and Social Development Branch (ISSD). This pool could also be used to fill similar positions within the other branches of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
As innovation is one of the main values of our Branch and is always at the heart of decision-making, it is not surprising that this selection process follows the same tangent. We're trying a whole new formula where you won't have to apply for a particular level: Candidates with the essential qualifications of a certain group and level will be placed in the respective pool.
