Duties

• Conducts compliance promotion activities, inspections, compliance verifications, investigations and enforces the provisions of the applicable acts and regulations using a full range of mechanisms and prepares reports on compliance violations by regulated parties, identifies corrective actions and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure that regulated parties meet compliance requirements.
• Provides scientific, regulatory and technical advice and information to management and contributes to issue prioritization and the development of compliance and enforcement strategies using risk management approach.
• Participates in meetings and committees to contribute to the development of guidelines and quality documents such as standard operating procedures.

Intent of the process

The intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to create a pool to staff (35) positions in the Cannabis Directorate Inspection Operations with various status (indeterminately and temporary) and various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment).

Education

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in microbiology, chemistry, pharmacy, food science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, biochemistry, biology, agriculture or some other specialty related to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience
Recent** and significant*** experience in the execution of compliance, regulatory or enforcement activities (such as conducting regulatory inspections or conducting audits) in an operational environment.
Experience in providing scientific or regulatory advice or guidance on regulated products to management, regulated industry or government agencies

**Recent means experience acquired within the last five (5) years
***Significant means the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performing these duties full-time for a minimum of twenty-four (24) months

Experience:
Experience liaising with the public, industry or government
Formal law enforcement training (for example police) and/or military experience
