Duties

Position to be staffed: Vocational Rehabilitation Case Manager

A Vocational Rehabilitation Case Manager is an exceptional individual who uses their talents and natural curiosity of problem solving and client focus to make a difference in the lives of Canadians. In this role, you will identify Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPP-D) clients who have the potential to return to the workforce. You will plan and facilitate the client’s return to the workplace by assessing their needs, preparing a plan outlining the services required, conducting a cost benefit analysis and fostering the client’s cooperation and participation.

You will establish partnerships with other levels of government as well as private sector organizations, social workers and health professionals to ensure that all possible supports are put in place to assist the client and facilitate their progress. This includes establishing eligibility for continuing Disability benefits and/or identifying and negotiating shared funding arrangements with internal and external partners.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates at the PM-04 level (Vocational Rehabilitation Case Manager), to staff positions within the Benefit Delivery Services Branch of Employment and Social Development Canada in Edmonton, Victoria and Winnipeg.

The pool of qualified candidates may also be used to staff Vocational Rehabilitation Case Manager positions with various tenures within Employment and Social Development Canada, across Canada.

EDUCATION:

Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives:

• an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience; or
• an acceptable score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma

EDUCATION NOTES:

A Secondary School Diploma refers to a High School Diploma.

If you have completed post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma, from a recognized post-secondary institution, then proof of completion may also be accepted as proof of education in lieu of a copy of your high school diploma.

If the name on your education credentials is different from the name on your application, we will require proof of name change.

Experience in case management within the context of health or social services, including one or more of the following:
•Experience investigating program or service options for clients and assessing their eligibility
•Experience collaborating with clients and other partners or stakeholders to discuss program or service options and to develop plans of action
•Experience evaluating the effectiveness of programs or services, consulting with clients, partners and stakeholders as applicable

Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, nursing, or a related field.

Association:
Possess one or more of the following professional designations (or similar):
Current registration as a Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CCRC)/Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP), Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Masters Level Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC)

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Experience in vocational rehabilitation case management
Experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling
