The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is an independent and highly specialized agency of the Government of Canada that advances transportation safety by investigating air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation accidents and incidents.
It’s a modern, world-class organization in constant evolution that has an enviable reputation in Canada and around the world.
With five Board members, including the Chair, and a high-performing workforce of just 220, the TSB has 10 offices across Canada, including its head office in Gatineau, Quebec.

The intent of this process is to staff an anticipated vacancy for Editor, Publishing, Communications Branch .
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various language profiles, tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified period, Casual , etc.), and work locations.

EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized university in English, French, translation, communications, or a field related to the position. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* professional experience editing materials in English and/or French aimed at specialist or general readers.
Experience editing scientific and/or technical materials in English and/or French.
Significant* experience in comparative editing (Senior editor stream).
Experience providing writing and editing advice to authors and/or managers.
*Significant experience refers to an acceptable combination of breadth, depth, complexity of tasks that can normally be acquired in 3 years of work in the field.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience editing, technical writing or writing in one or more of the following fields:
• aviation
• marine transportation
• pipelines
• railways
Significant* experience editing scientific and/or technical materials in English and/or French.
Experience in translation.
*Significant experience refers to an acceptable combination of breadth, depth, complexity of tasks that can normally be acquired in 3 years of work in the field.
Bilingual - Imperative (PPC/PPC)

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of writing tools and references, including Government of Canada standards and tools.
Knowledge of best practices in professional editing.
Knowledge of the mandate of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
ABILITIES:
Ability to copyedit written materials, including materials on scientific and/or technical subjects, for specialist and non-specialist readers in English and French.
Ability to perform comparative editing.
Ability to provide writing and editing advice to authors and/or managers.
Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
