A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, Flight Operations at Transport Canada is responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of air carriers, flight training units, airports, and heliports. Duties include, but are not limited to: inspection and surveillance activities to ensure compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations; review and approval of company manuals; oversight of Approved Check Pilots; pilot flight testing, airspace reviews; and air operator/flight training unit certification. Flight Operations Inspectors work closely with stakeholders to ensure the safety of aviation operations within Ontario Region.

EDUCATION:
• A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
• Possession of a valid Aviation Document Booklet;
• Possession of a valid Category 1 Aviation Medical;
• Possession of a Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence - Aeroplane Category with a Group 1 Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence; and
• Possession of a Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

• Possession of a valid Aviation Document Booklet;
• Possession of a valid Category 1 Aviation Medical;
• Possession of a Canadian Commercial Pilot Licence - Helicopter Category with a Group IV Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence; and
• Possession of a Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience acquired within the last 6 years, as a pilot with a Canadian Air Operator, Private Operator (CAR 604), Flight Training Unit or in the Canadian Military.
MINIMUM FLIGHT TIME:
Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in multi-engine aeroplanes.
OR
Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in multi-engine helicopters.
EDUCATION:
• Post-secondary education in an aviation or related program to the position.
TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
• Holds a valid Canadian Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating – Aeroplane OR a Canadian Forces Instructor Category - Aeroplane.
• Holds a valid Canadian Class 1 Flight Instructor Rating- Helicopter OR a Canadian Forces Instructor Category - Helicopter.
• Experience in conducting training lessons and information briefings.
• Experience as a training pilot.
• Experience as a Class 1 Aerobatics Instructor.
REGULATORY:
• Experience exercising Ministerial Authority under the Aeronautics Act and the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
• Experience in conducting assessments or evaluation of compliance.
• Experience as an Approved Check Pilot.
• Experience as a Pilot Examiner.
FLYING EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in conducting long-line operations.
• Experience in working with Electronic Flight Instrument Systems.
• Holds or has held one of the following ratings: DH8, EMB 170/190, CRJ, Boeing 737 or 757 or 767 or 777or 787, Airbus A220, A310, A320 or A330/340
• Experience on advanced technology aircraft.
• Experience as pilot in command of multi-engine turbine powered aircraft of a Maximum Certified Takeoff Gross Weight of 50,000 pounds or greater operating under Subpart 705 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations or Canadian military equivalent.
• Holds an ATPL-H
MANAGEMENT:
• Experience in the planning OR coordination OR management OR execution of the delivery of aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS, or equivalent programs).
• Experience in working with risk management concepts and principles.
• Experience as Chief Flight Instructor.
• Experience as Operations Manager in 702, 703, 704, or 705 operations.
• Experience as Chief Pilot in 702, 703, 704, or 705 operations.
• Experience writing documents such as: company operations manuals, technical bulletins, operational procedures and guidance material, training materials, Power Point presentations and other written correspondence.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
• Experience with Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems.

◦ What happens if my application expires?
Your application will be kept in the inventory for 180 days. A notice will be posted in the "My Job File" menu of your account 30 days before your application expires. If you do not take any action, your application will be deactivated and it will no longer be considered. In the event that your application expires during the effective period of this inventory, a notice will be posted in your account.
