Duties

AS-02: Junior Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator offers support to the Occupational Health and Safety program.

AS-04: Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator may evolve in different programs within our Directorate. There are many responsibilities, but it is worth the challenge! The main tasks are:

- Providing sound advice and guidance to clients under the OHS regulatory framework (interpretation of legislation);
- Conducting inspections, incident reports, workplace analysis;
- Responding to the specific needs of clients;
- Participating in projects or meetings/committees.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff three (3) AS-04 positions and one (1) AS-02 position in the National Capital Region (Ottawa-Gatineau).

A partially assessed pool may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions with various language requirements, various locations in Canada and various security requirements within PSPC. On a case-by-case basis, a telework arrangement could be considered from any location in Canada.

EXPERIENCE

Stream AS-02:

➨ Experience in providing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) information or advice to management or employees.

Stream AS-04:

➨ Significant* experience in providing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) advice to management or employees.

➨ Significant* experience in conducting workplace OHS inspections, investigations or risk assessments.

➨ Experience in the elaboration or implementation of strategies, policies, directives or procedures related to OHS.

*Significant experience will be evaluated in regard to the complexity and the diversity of the work handled as well as the level of autonomy demonstrated.

ASSETS QUALIFICATIONS (Both Streams):

➨ Post-secondary diploma in the field of OHS.

Degree equivalency

➨ Experience performing office ergonomic assessments.

➨ Experience as a health and safety committee member, representative or secretary.

➨ Experience in providing technical and operational advice on one or more of the following subjects: hazardous substances, confined spaces, or electrical safety.

➨ Experience delivering OHS training sessions.

➨ Experience in the management of OHS files.

➨ Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and/or Outlook).
