Work environment

The Defence Intelligence Officer Recruitment Program (DIORP) is a three-year development program that prepares its participants for a challenging and rewarding career in the field of defence intelligence.

If accepted, you will enter the program at the EC-02 level (Economics and Social Science Services Group). Over the course of three years, you will be trained through a combination of on-the-job experiences and in-house learning opportunities. Upon successful completion of the program, you will graduate at the EC-05 level.

Participants of this exciting program are assigned challenging work assignments and undergo skills-based training to prepare them for their future careers as defence intelligence officers.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to staff positions in the DIORP program on an indeterminate basis.

It may also be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff identical or similar positions with various security levels, tenures, locations, language requirements and linguistic profiles.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a Master’s degree with acceptable specialization in social science, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.
↪ Specialization is defined as having taken a minimum of one (1) course in social science, statistics, library/archival work or law-related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
↪ “Social science" includes economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, history, psychology, geography, criminology, and other disciplines associated with social science.
↪ "Library/archival work" includes gallery and museum functions.
↪ Candidates currently completing a Master's degree will be considered. They must demonstrate they are able to complete all the requirements of their current studies program to obtain their Master's degree by 30 June 2023.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1 - Experience researching, analyzing and interpreting information from multiple sources and synthesizing the collected information into a written document such as a report, paper, briefing note or presentation.

AEX1: Experience working with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Department of National Defence (DND), or another Canadian government organization (i.e. Communications Security Establishment (CSE), Privy Council Office (PCO), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) or other).

AEX2 :Experience working with the United Nations (UN), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), other international organizations, or Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

AEX3: Experience in analyzing political, economic or security issues, particularly those affecting one of the following regions: Africa, Americas, Asia, Middle East, or Europe

AEX4: Experience analyzing thematic security issues such as national security, weapons proliferation, military capabilities, cyber or other security and defence related subjects or fields
