Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

You can apply for any or all (AS-05) streams advertised:

STREAM 1: DIGITIZATION MANAGEMENT
STREAM 2: TRAINING AND AWARENESS
STREAM 3: SENIOR ANALYST

You must clearly indicate in your application for which stream(s) you wish to apply and demonstrate how you meet the Experience factors for each stream. These are listed in the Essential Qualifications section below.

Applicants MUST submit their application online. No other mediums will be accepted. Failing to do so will result in your application being rejected. Candidates in situations preventing them from applying online and needing special accommodations must advise the selection board prior to the closing date (see Contact section below).

You must include your resumé with your application; however, avoid referring us to your resumé as it may only be used as a secondary source of information.

You must clearly demonstrate in your application how you respond to the factors of Education and Experience that are included in the essential qualifications listed below. It is your responsibility to provide concrete examples (including dates) illustrating how you respond to each qualification. Failing to do so, your application may be rejected as applicants will NOT be solicited for incomplete or missing information.

You must clearly demonstrate in your application how you meet the Education requirements listed in the Essential Qualifications section below. You must indicate:
• Institution name, City, Province / State, Country
• Program name and duration
• Period of time spent at the institution (Month/Year to Month/Year)
• Successful completion of program (degree, diploma, certificate received).

You must clearly demonstrate in your application how you meet the Experience factors listed in the Essential Qualifications section below. For each experience factor, please indicate:
• Name of the employer where the experience was acquired.
• The period of time in which you have gained the experience (Month/Year to Month/Year).
• The title of the position held. Provide concrete examples of the tasks you have completed which show how the experience was acquired.

This is a crucial step of the process. We can’t make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough; your answers must be specific, detailed and self-contained as your resume will not be reviewed. The depth and breadth of experience of an applicant may be considered as part of screening or selection of a candidate, which is why it is recommended you quantify your experience.

Please clearly identify your substantive group and level, and your employment status.

The selection board may waive some of the selection process steps based on the candidate’s depth of experience. Please ensure that your answers to the screening questions clearly describe your experience.

The application may be used to evaluate the ability to communicate effectively in writing.

📋 Assessment

A variety of assessment tools may be used to assess applicants, such as: written tests, skill tests, situational tests, oral interviews, simulations, presentations, role plays, work samples, performance evaluations, and/or reference checks, and/or personal/direct knowledge of candidates’ qualifications by assessment board members. Some assessment tools may be administered electronically and others, in person.

Please note that assessors may select candidates for the next screening round based on asset qualifications, scores obtained, top-down or randomly.

Essential qualifications listed in the advertisement are mandatory. An applicant may be appointed to the position whether or not they have all of the qualifications identified as assets. However, meeting these criteria is desirable: They could be the deciding factor in selecting the person appointed to the position. If the number of applicants who meet the essential qualifications is the same as the number of vacant positions, the manager may decide not to assess some or all of the asset qualifications.

A passing mark will be established for each qualification assessed. However, a passing mark is no guarantee that an applicant will be appointed to the position or referred to the next stage of the assessment process. A cut-off could be determined or a top-down approach applied if a sufficient number of candidates is available to meet immediate and anticipated needs.

All information gathered during the selection process, from submission of the application to the end of the process, may be used for applicant assessment purposes.

🧳 Travel Status – Travel Expenses

Please note that you will not be considered on travel status/government business, and that travel costs will not be reimbursed. Therefore, you will be responsible for travel costs.

🎓 Proof of Education

You must provide proof of your education. Applicants with foreign credentials must provide proof of equivalency in Canada.

Applicants must pay all applicable fees. Certificates and/or diplomas obtained abroad must be assessed against educational standards in Canada. The federal Public Service will accept any degree obtained

abroad on the condition that the degree in question meets Canadian standards as determined by a recognized degree evaluation service.

The Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC) assists individuals who wish to obtain an assessment of their academic or professional credentials by referring them to the appropriate resources.

You can visit the CICIC website at: https://www.cicic.ca/2/home.canada? This website has links to a number of Canadian organizations that offer equivalency assessment services.

Original degrees or certified transcripts may be required. If so, they must be provided. Your application will not be accepted without the required documents. You could be disqualified from the process unless you submit a Canadian equivalency.

💬 Communication

No acknowledgment of receipt of the application will be sent. We will contact candidates by email for screening or assessment purposes. It is imperative that you provide a valid email address that accepts emails from unknown senders (which some email systems block). We strongly encourage applicants to check their electronic mailbox regularly. You are entirely responsible for notifying us of any change in your contact information.

🍁 Official Languages – Bilingual Positions

Candidates are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice. Candidates will be required to specify in their online application their language preference for: a) correspondence, b) written exams and c) interviews.

To be considered for a bilingual imperative position, you must be prepared to undergo

second language proficiency testing OR you must already have your second language proficiency test results (proof required).

If you have taken the Public Service Commission’s second language proficiency assessment, you can request a copy of your results at the following website:
