This intent of this process is to staff 1 EG-05 position for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension.
A pool of candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EG-05 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education:
Successful completion of post-secondary education from a recognized post-secondary institution in Engineering Technology, Laboratory Technology, or in another field relevant to the duties of the position; or a secondary school diploma combined with acceptable training and/or experience.
Experience:
Experience advising stakeholders such as technical, scientific, or professional personnel/clients/partners on technical processes, operations and/or occupational health and safety.
Experience recommending and implementing changes to improve methods and/or operations
Experience in developing standard operating procedures including hazard assessments.
Experience performing workplace safety/hazard inspections and incident investigations.
Experience working in a laboratory or industrial setting.
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel software to prepare documents such as reports, spreadsheets and graphs.
Asset Education:
Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or in another field relevant to the duties of the position.
Certified as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional.
Experience delivering training sessions.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of relevant health and safety guidelines and practices.
Knowledge of team dynamics and leadership techniques for motivation and/or training.
Knowledge of health and safety legislations including (but not limited to) Canada Labour code, OHS Regulations, Federal Hazardous Products Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Building and Fire Codes and WHMIS.
Knowledge of Health and Safety and/or Incident Management programs
Abilities:

Operational Requirements:
The work for this position must be performed on site, at the CanmetENERGY laboratory in Devon AB, with no telework option.
