Hearing Officers provide support, advice and expertise related to the application of Conditional Release Program legislation, policy and procedure to Parole Board members (PBC), PBC and Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) staff, federal offenders and others who attend parole hearings. Hearing Officers prepare comprehensive written factual summaries of case files to be used in the Board’s decision-making process. Hearing Officers co-ordinate and facilitate panel hearings at correctional institutions, Board offices or other locations.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma.
EXPERIENCE
E1: Experience in providing advice and recommendations in a work environment.
E2: Experience in gathering, analyzing and summarizing information.
E3: Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation and regulations.
E4: Experience in drafting documents to senior managers ensuring correctness and completeness as per policy or procedural requirements.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires daily exposure of disturbing and offensive information; consequently, the appointed person must
be capable of performing the duties in an objective manner when exposed to such information.
Willingness and ability to travel (Note: this may include being away overnight).
Willingness and ability to work in a correctional institution.
Willingness and ability to work irregular hours when travelling or during hearings.
Valid driver’s license of the province of Ontario.
