This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates for appointments on an indeterminate, temporary and/or casual basis within the RCMP in Edmonton and Calgary, AB. In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and/or considered: acting, assignment, deployment, secondment or term appointment.
Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta, or within a 40 kilometer radius of Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, processing mail, maintenance of office equipment, assisting with logistical arrangements such as travel/accommodation and meeting facilities, providing procurement and fleet management support.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Experience providing services to internal and/or external clients via telephone or in person.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in providing financial support services such as handling and monitoring petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, monitoring and maintaining budget data, processing expenditures and journal vouchers, technical and professional skills.
• Experience using a financial management system such as SAP.
• Experience providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving and/or destroying data.
• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as CPIC, PROS, etc.
• Experience processing and handling classified, confidential or sensitive information.
• Possession of a valid class 5 drivers license.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
• Willingness and ability to maintain a valid driver's license, or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft, up to and including remote locations.
RCMP security clearance
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled may have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status, Secret, or Top Secret. This requires a security/reliability interview and a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
