• Examining, validating and assessing the quality of data / data products;
• Identifying and resolving data access and representation problems using established procedures and techniques;
• Recommending the development of new technical methodologies, techniques and procedures to improve data access, processing and representation;
• Testing new techniques and verifying the performance of tools and equipment, including software and hardware used for data collection, analysis/processing and representation;
• Developing and presenting recommendations for improvements including database structures, production/representation processes, quality control processes and procedures, and tools/equipment;
• Documenting new procedures;
• Analyzing data requests and data products from clients, partners and stakeholders, based on existing databases and information holdings;
• Searching databases and responding to client requests;
• Designing and developing data and computer product referencing and classification frameworks, and documenting procedures for the organization and accessibility of a broad variety of datasets, databases and other products;
• Consulting and providing technical advice to senior management, scientists, professionals, interest groups, suppliers or clients in response to written or verbal requests for interpretation, validity or accessibility of data and products.
The intent of this anticipated staffing process is to fill a French essential position for a period of three years with the possibility of extension in the Quebec Region. A pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff positions with various language requirements (French essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC) and security levels.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (CEGEP) in a field relevant to the duties of the position, such as data management, geomatics, computer sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience in collecting, storing, processing and disseminating scientific and geospatial data in a variety of formats.
EX2: Experience using geographic information systems (including ArcGIS) to manage georeferenced data.
EX3: Experience providing technical support or training to users and/or developing step-by-step documents (e.g., tutorials) on geomatics tools and data management software.

ASSET QUALIFICATION:
AQ1: Experience using scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, VB.NET and SQL) to process data.
AQ2: Experience using GPS devices and preparing field data entry forms.
AQ3: Experience developing web GIS applications with ArcGIS Portal or ArcGIS Online.
AQ4: Experience creating dashboards and reports using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
AQ5: Experience working with complex relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server).
