💼The chosen candidate will be responsible for organizing the delivery of inspection for Coast Guard’s large and small vessel new build programs across Canada. The person will also be managing inspection audits against standards, developing a national framework of inspection strategies, and ensuring quality ships are delivered in-line with vessel design and construction standards, and specifications.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) leads the management of Canada’s fisheries and the safeguarding of Canadian waters. The Canadian Coast Guard, a Special Operating Agency within DFO, is responsible for services and programs that contribute to the safety, security, and accessibility of Canada’s waterways.

🎓EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
📌 EXPERIENCE
Significant* experience in conducting and managing technical inspections of new large infrastructure or transportation construction projects, or large ship refit projects, against applicable Canadian or international regulation standards.
Significant* experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with infrastructure providers (contractors), regulators, and/or ship buyers.
Experience in providing briefings, strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.
Experience in managing human and financial resources.
*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities over a period of at least three (3) years.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

📌 ASSET EXPERIENCE
Experience as an auditor, or as a member of an audit team, in auditing quality or safety management systems.
Experience in leading or participating in marine construction repairs, operation, inspection or quality assurance respective to electrical or electronic systems, hull structure or mechanical systems.
Certificate in Project Management from a recognized institution or experience in project management within a technical environment.
Experience in managing/participating, or executing/managing inspection in a new build shipbuilding project greater than a 1000 tons.
🔔 OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and abroad, on short notice.
Must be able and available to go to sea in ships under trial.
Willingness and ability to work in an industrial/shipyard setting, including but not limited to contractors' facilities, shipyards, dry-docks, on board anchored and moving vessels, etc.
Willingness and ability to work in extremes of environmental conditions on land and at sea.
