Duties

Natural Resources Canada has recently developed a hydrogen strategy (https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/climate-change-adapting-impacts-and-reducing-emissions/canadas-green-future/the-hydrogen-strategy/23080) that will set us on the path to meet our climate change goals of becoming net-zero by 2050. This will position Canada as a world-leading producer, user and exporter of clean hydrogen, and associated technologies.

The first phase of this project involves the application of techno-economic and life cycle assessments to compare current options for hydrogen production, with optimization of efficiency, cost, scalability, and environmental impacts. The second phase of this project involves bench-scale and pilot-scale experimentation to advance the readiness level of key hydrogen production technologies identified in the first phase.

This position is located at the Bells Corners Complex, situated within Ottawa’s Greenbelt, yet close to restaurants and shopping within the area of Bells Corners. Situated between Nepean and Kanata, we are close to the Bayshore bus station as well as the Eagleson/Terry Fox Park and Ride with bus access to the Complex. -Currently enrolled or willing and able to enroll at the University of Ottawa in a Doctoral program with specialization relevant to the duties of the position.
-Completion of a MSc degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
