Would you like to be involved in the recruitment of the future generation of the Public Service?
The PSC is responsible of the recruitment programs for students and graduates. We manage the three students’ programs for all the government. We are also helping recruit graduates from various field of work to bring their talents and experience to the government.

Are you passionate about psychology?
The PSC conducts occupational tests and assessments through our Personnel Psychology Centre, including general administrative tests. We help federal government departments and agencies with a range of professional assessment products and services that can be used for recruitment and selection or personnel development.

Are you interested in joining an investigation team?
The PSC oversee the staffing system in the Federal Public Service. We ensure the staffing taking place in the government is merit-based and impartial. We investigate concerns relating to specific appointment processes and allegations of improper political activities.

Your role in the PSC
As an administrative assistant, you are the key force in the organization’s administration. You oversee and maintain the overall flow of workplace operations. Additionally, you are often the central point of contact for clients and employees in your section.

In an administrative role, you may:
• Provide administrative support services to staff and managers;
• Plan, coordinate and arrange meetings, teleconferences and conferences for your unit;
• Review and ensure completeness and correctness of required documentation & information;
• Input data in a variety of administrative, financial and program database, records and systems;
• Coordinate the daily operations of the unit and manager by following up on activities;
• Coordinate and administer financial activities;
• Coordinate the workflow of correspondence such as managing a generic mailbox; and
• Track requests and the status of outstanding issues.

The administrative assistant role can also take various shape depending on which service or program you will be joining. Our key corporate services are financial management services, information management services, human resources services, real property services & security services. We also offer various programs and services such as Second Language Evaluation for the Public Service, Government of Canada jobs (GCjobs platform), and much more.

Intent of the process

We are looking to immediately fill multiple indeterminate CR-05, AS-01 & AS-02 positions in different locations. Full time & Part-time positions available.

The PSC will begin its Transition Plan to Hybrid Work this fall. Employees will be required to report to a PSC office at least once a week, with the opportunity to telework the rest of the week, subject to operational requirements. This model offers interesting opportunities to combine the best of our traditions with new approaches to foster a diverse and healthy public service.

A qualified pool of candidates will be established and used to staff positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

EDUCATION
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
For All Levels
• Experience providing administrative support services or client services.
• Experience with MS Office suite products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Note – the essential experience qualifications can be gained through full or part time employment, volunteer or charity work, social work, or similar areas.

For AS-02
• Two years or more of experience providing administrative support services.

Note: The two (2) years of previous experience could have been acquired anytime and is cumulative.

Various language requirements
Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC & CCC/CCC

In the public service positions require knowledge of English, French or both English and French. When both official languages are required, the position is designated "bilingual". The proficiency levels which can be assigned to each skill are: A (beginner), B (intermediate), C (advanced).
