Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:
In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $26,770 to $44,616 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $1,500 twice a year for you and each eligible dependant.
As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
The position is part of a dynamic team involved on many fronts to further socio-economic and environmental interests of local communities. The Contaminated Sites Division is collaborating closely with Nunavut groups while working with colleagues delivering the Northern Contaminated Sites Program throughout the rest of Canada. The work environment provides a unique opportunity to participate meaningfully in improving livelihood and ecological health in Nunavut.
The position plays a key role in the Contaminated Sites Division. The Program Manager works closely with the Director and the Project Managers to support the delivery of the Northern Contaminated Sites Program. The position is responsible in ensuring that the program requirements and the funding conditions are properly incorporated in the delivery of the projects. The Program Manager serves as a bridge between the strategic planning, the program policies and the implementation of the science-based projects. For example, the Program Manager is the lead on the Environmental, Health and Safety component of the division, the reporting requirements for accountability and the budgeting of program tasks, to name a few. The position is regularly called to collaborate on science-based initiatives and contaminated sites management questions such as preliminary assessments, monitoring programs, and operating procedures.
We are a small diverse and dedicated team within the Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), Nunavut Regional Office, located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. This position would give you an opportunity to live and work in Canada’s newest territory, a place unlike anywhere else in Canada. Housing and relocation assistance is provided.

• Experience in the management of projects in the environmental field (such as monitoring, identifying and advising on technical, environmental, socio-economic, regulatory, political or fiscal requirements).
• Experience in the development of operational policies (for example health and safety, science and technology, socio-economic benefits or natural resource management).
