Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:
In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $19,833 to $27,387 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $1,000 once a year for you and each eligible dependant.
As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
This position works to help deliver the Northern Contaminated Sites Program/Northern Abandoned Mines Reclamation Program, within the Northern Affairs Sector of CIRNAC by working closely with territorial governments, Indigenous partners and other stakeholders to remediate contaminated sites and abandoned mines in the Northwest Territories.
We work collaboratively on environmental studies, investigations, and remediation projects in compliance with federal, territorial and municipal environmental regulations and standards.
Duties of the job include review of environmental or scientific technical reports and ability to synthesize and report information to communicate to the public and regulatory agencies, working at remote sites while following all environmental, health and safety plans, and developing or reviewing specifications, terms of reference or scopes of work and other project management tasks.

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a specialization in engineering, environmental science, geology, biology, chemistry or other science relevant to the position.
-Recent* working experience of approximately one year in two of the three following subjects:
-Contaminated site assessment or contaminated site remediation or mine reclamation or environmental site assessment.
-Analyzing and reporting on scientific data.
-Design or implementation of environmental programs.
• Significant** experience working on environmental project coordination with different stakeholders.
*Recent means acquired within the last four years.
**Significant means experience obtained is representative of the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years.

• Professional credentials relevant to the management of contaminated sites (e.g., P. Eng (professional engineer), PMP (project management professional), etc.).
• Post-graduate education relevant to the management of contaminated sites.
• Fieldwork experience in contaminated sites or environmental assessment or solid waste disposal or management.
• Field or mining or remote site experience relevant to the position.
• Significant* experience working within a cross cultural environment or with Indigenous organizations.

Operational Requirements (may be requested, upon taking up the position):
• Willing and able to travel in small fixed wing and helicopter aircraft as well as on winter ice roads.
• Willing and able to work overtime.
• Willing and able to work at remote contaminated sites.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Required to follow Environmental Health and Safety Management Systems (EHSMS) at all times as well as camp rules at remote sites.
The following conditions must also be met on taking up the position and maintained throughout the employment:
• Security status: Reliability.
• Medical Clearance established for the position.
