A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates will be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various official language proficiencies, various security profiles, various tenures using various staffing mechanisms within Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
• Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in providing client technical support and services.
• Significant experience* troubleshooting technical problems and proposing effective solutions.

*Significant experience is defined by the depth and breadth of experience in the IM/IT field that would normally be acquired over a period of at least one (1) year consecutively on a full time basis.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

An asset qualification is considered a "nice to have." Asset qualifications may be used when considering best fit or future hiring needs. Candidates do not need to meet all of the following qualifications.

• Experience in the system administration and support of a Virtual Contact Center (VCC) Solution.
• Experience configuring an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.
• Experience in preparing and executing test plans, test scenarios, test cases and documenting test results.
• Recent* experience in preparing and executing automated test scripts using Sillenium.
• Knowledge of Virtual Call Center (VCC) solutions and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems.
• Knowledge of Mission Critical Application Testing.

* Recent is defined as the experience acquired within the last five (5) years

**NOTE: Depending on the position being staffed, the hiring manager may deem one or more of the above asset qualification to be an essential qualification. In cases where one of the above assets is deemed to be “essential” only candidates, veterans and persons with a priority entitlement who possess that specific qualification in addition to the stated essential qualifications will be considered.

STEP 1 – INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Education, Experience and Knowledge: When you submit your application, the system will prompt you with a specific question to evaluate how you meet each qualification.

STEP 3 – LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT (For bilingual positions only)

Depending on the position being staff, we might have positions with various language requirements, such as: English Essential or Bilingual Imperative (BBB/BBB or CBC/CBC)

STEP 4 - SECURITY CLEARANCE

The hiring department is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process.

Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must provide residence information for the last five (5) years and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must provide residence information for the last ten (10) years.

The process may involve reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, credit checks (if required), and fingerprints.

The selection decision(s) may be based on one or more of the following criteria:

• Level/degree of one or more competencies/qualifications.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
