Of note, the minimum experience requirement is of approximately four (4) months cumulative within the last three years. Lack of EXAMPLES and DETAILS may result in your application being rejected.

Applicants who submit an application and meet the electronic screening requirements will have their application included in this selection process in anticipation of further assessment.

For screening and assessment purposes, all communications related to this selection process will be by email. Therefore, candidates must include a valid email address in their application. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that this address is functional and that it accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email) and frequently check their inbox and JUNK/SPAM folders. It is also the candidate's responsibility to ensure accurate contact information is provided and updated as required, by communicating to the email indicated below.

PREVIOUS ASSESSMENT RESULTS
If you participated in the Correctional Program Officer selection process 2020-PEN-IA-QUE-165123 with the Correctional Service of Canada, your assessment results may be applied as part of this selection process. This will be confirmed during the assessment stage of the selection process. You are required to submit an application to this selection process to be considered for further assessment.

Candidates who qualified in a previous selection process that is not mentioned above, will NOT be able to transfer scores to the new process.

You will not be assessed more than once in the same selection process.

Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada is seeking interest from persons looking for an exciting and rewarding career as a Correctional Program Officer.

Correctional Program Officers are essential to fulfilling the Correctional Service of Canada’s (CSC) mission of contributing to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane control.

Every day, Correctional Program Officers deliver important correctional programs to offenders (e.g. programs targeting risk factors such as substance abuse or criminal attitudes). They motivate and encourage offenders along the path to successful reintegration. They also give advice to offenders while teaching them the skills they need for their eventual safe reintegration into the community. Correctional Program Officers are responsible for preparing and delivering group or individual correctional programs sessions. They motivate and evaluate offender progress in understanding and managing their risk factors and work together with the offender’s case management team to ensure public safety.
