Duties

Implementation Officers are integral to Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada’s work in the implementation of Yukon First Nation Final and Self-Government Agreements to which Canada is a signatory. They are responsible for providing advice and assistance to the Governance Directorate, particularly the Implementation Team, related to the implementation of the Umbrella Final Agreement, the Final Agreements, the Self-Government Agreements, and associated implementation plans and ancillary agreements. These positions also provide support between fiscal policy, negotiating and implementation teams and implementation support to RIRSD tables as needed.

Work environment

The location of the position is in Whitehorse, YT. Telework (specifically the ability to work from home) may be available however it is required that the candidate reside in Whitehorse as it will be necessary to attend both the regional office and travel to communities for various in-person events and/or meetings.

The intent of this process is to staff one position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada in Whitehorse, Yukon:

A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar or identical position at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) or other federal departments and agencies located in Whitehorse, Yukon, with various tenures, linguistic profiles and/or security requirements.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in northern or cross-cultural environments.
Experience developing correspondence and formal briefings for senior management.
Experience working on Indigenous, Territorial, Provincial or Federal matters related to Final and Self-Government Agreements in Yukon.
Experience applying Government of Canada priorities in addressing Indigenous and northern issues.
Experience implementing Crown Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada’s mandate.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to work overtime on short notice, when required
Willing and able to travel, when required.

A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates, such as: * written test, practical test, situational exercise, * oral interview, simulation, presentation, role-play, work samples, performance appraisals and/or * reference checks. Some assessment tools may be administered electronically, others, in-person. (* Indicates those tools that will most likely be used in this process.)

7. Online assessments may be scheduled and applicants will be invited to participate in these assessments via email. Applicants MUST make themselves available within the time span of the testing phase. The written/online exam MAY be administered outside of regular working hours including evenings and weekends.

8. If you are unavailable for the scheduled assessment session, you must inform us immediately. Applicants will be only be rescheduled on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation may be required at the time of your request to be re-scheduled.

10. NOTE: The PSRS system will time out after 60 minutes which may result in your inability to save your work or loss of data.
