Duties

• Interpretation of disability management and workplace accommodation policy;
• Provides front-line service delivery of the Department’s Disability Management & Accommodation Program (DMAP) to employees and supervisors which includes the pro-active disability case management, including the provision of advice and guidance on disability management and workplace accommodation cases; and applies best practice in disability management communication and case documentation;
• Stays current on evolving best practices and Industry standards related to Disability Management;
• Conducts research and analysis to ensure up to date and current knowledge of related legislation and evolving jurisprudence;
• Development and fostering positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, multi-tasking in a fast paced environment and working as part of a team.

Positions are located at National Headquarters (Ottawa) and in Nova Scotia (Halifax).

Each division will determine their own work environment requirements (i.e. virtual workplace, hybrid schedule).

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff 2 positions on an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles and an Enhanced Reliability security clearance:

• 1 position in National Headquarters (Ottawa) with a Bilingual Imperative - (BBB/BBB) language profile;
• 1 position in Nova Scotia (Halifax) with an English Essential language profile.

A pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social Sciences or Health Sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the area of disability management and accommodation

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
1. Recent* and significant** experience in case management of files in at least one of the following programs within the public or private sector: workplace accommodations, disability management program, or return-to-work program
2. Recent* and significant** experience in the formulation of advice to managers (all levels) and employees on the application of laws and policies related to at least one of the following programs within the public or private sector: workplace accommodations, disability management, or return-to-work programs
3. Significant** experience in developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

*“Recent” experience can be defined as experience associated with having performed this function in the past 5 years.
**"Significant" experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately 2 years.
