🚢The Labour Relations Centre of Expertise within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) is looking for experienced advisors to board the team.
🚢Our PE development program aims to develop our LR Advisors until they reach our PE-04 working level. DFO is a great department to gain experience in all fields of Labour Relations because our advisors have both an operational and corporate roles. As such, our advisors have the opportunity to go to adjudication and mediation, to participate at the collective bargaining process, manage grievances at all levels etc.

🚢The Fisheries and Oceans, Labour Relation, Centre of Expertise has excellent, dynamic Advisors with significant knowledge and experience who value working collaboratively and as a team.
A pool of candidates will be established and could also be used to staff PE-02 and PE-03 positions with various tenures, titles and security requirement using different staffing mechanisms (deployments, indeterminate/determinate appointments, acting, assignments/secondments, Interchange Canada, casuals).

👨🎓EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.
📌EXPERIENCE (for PE-03 position only):
• Two (2) years experience as a human resources practitioner.
• Significant* experience interpreting and applying legislation, policy or collective agreement related to at least one human resources discipline.
• Experience in providing strategic advice to senior management** on a variety of labour relations issues.
• Experience conducting research, analyzing and processing client requests in a client service environment.
Note:
*Significant experience is defined as having performed the associated tasks for at least two (2) years and have mastered the full range of depth and breadth associated with the experience criteria. The amount, the complexity*** and the diversity of tasks, as well as the autonomy level will be taken into consideration.
**Senior management is defined at director level or higher.
***Complex is understood to involve at least two of the following characteristics: multi-dimensional, sensitive, confidential or affecting many partners/stakeholders.
📌EXPERIENCE (for PE-02 position only):
• One (1) year experience as a human resources practitioner.
• Experience providing options and recommendations to clients in a human resources discipline.
⭐️ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience providing services or advice to managers related to at least one human resources discipline (Staffing non-EX, Staffing EX, Classification, Talent Management and Leadership Development, Labour Relations, Disability Management, Diversity and Inclusion, Learning, Harassment Prevention and Resolution, Workforce Planning, Conflict Prevention and Resolution, Workplace Mental Health).
• Experience writing briefing material, reports or presentations intended for senior management.
• Experience providing guidance, tools, training or best practices to facilitate duty to accommodate requests.
• Experience in informal conflict management.
• Experience providing neutral services to support the resolution of harassment and violence.
• Experience coordinating, preparing or delivering training material.
• Experience handling harassment and/or violence occurrences.
• Experience conducting fact-finding investigations.
