Duties

As an Economic Development Officer with ACOA Nova Scotia, you will:
- Accomplish work that allows you to use your organizational and leadership skills.
- Promote ACOA’s programs and activities to the public and business community.
- Provide professional advice, analysis and recommendations on economic and business development issues.
- Assist in the delivery of regional economic development programs.
- Represent ACOA at meetings with various key stakeholders.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts.
- Collaborate with other federal departments, as well as provincial, municipal and territorial governments.

Intent of the process

We are recruiting to create a pool of candidates to staff future vacancies (permanent and/or temporary) at ACOA Nova Scotia in the above-mentioned locations.

ACOA Nova Scotia has adapted a hybrid work model, and there is an expectation, for the time being, to work one day a week from an ACOA office in order to increase collaboration, knowledge sharing, connections, mentoring and all the other elements that come naturally from being together.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution relevant to the duties of the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in delivering programs and services in one or more of the following areas: economics, finance, accounting, business development, community development, tourism, trade or social economy.

ASSET EXPERIENCE*:
• Experience in the analysis and evaluation of business, strategic or marketing plans or proposals.
• Experience in lending and portfolio management.
• Experience working with clients or stakeholders to advance projects or initiatives.
• Experience in working in a partnership role with officials from government, private sector or non-government organizations.

*Depending on the position to be staffed, any of these above asset experiences may be considered. This doesn't mean that you must possess all these qualifications, but they may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
